Tabletop Restaurant & Catering Beginning

Tabletop Restaurant & Catering was created by Rich Gardner and Pamela Baynes. They began this journey/adventure over a year ago while fixing up their property in Oroville, that was left to Rich by his parents. Rich’s parents lived in Oroville and Butte county for over 25 years. While working and running to Home Depot all the time to finish the project. They kept passing Hof Brau and saying, “we need to go in there and eat!” They finally did, and after talking with Tom Brinton for a few minutes, one of the owners of Hof Brau. They were then introduced to his wife Debbie Brinton, who led them on a tour of Hof Brau. Tom and Debbie explained they needed to get out of the business and retire. Within the hour deals were being discussed. The next few months were spent having meetings together and discussing the planning of such a transition. After meeting and talking for 5 months, the transition time was here. Rich and Pam took over Hof Brau on March 9th, 2018 at the end of the business day. They spent 2 long and grueling days reorganizing, prepping and training. They renamed the business, Tabletop Restaurant and Catering, and opened for business Monday March 12th, 2018. Rich and Pam kept Hof Brau’s popular items and introduced a new full-service restaurant and 7-page menu that serves beer and wine. They also introduced a full-service catering menu. They are open 7 days a week 6:00 am till 2:00 pm. All food and recipes are made from scratch. They make all their soups, sauces, gravies, etc.…

Rich carries with him 35 years of experience in the restaurant business. This is his 4th restaurant to open. He has extensive experience in catering, which is proven by his intense portfolio, just ask to see it! Also, his former, still running 3rd restaurant in Rocklin Ca., called The Granite Rock Grill. Rich has put in a lifetime in the food service industry. His commitment to quality and top-notch service are rarely found.

His partner, Pamela Baynes has over 35 years’ experience in restaurant and catering business as well. Pam worked many years with Rich in the restaurant and the catering business. She holds the front of the house to the incredible service standards that are being shown at Tabletop Restaurant. Pam is very knowledgeable in the catering side of the business as well. If you have an event in mind, talk to her she will get the ball rolling.

Rich and Pam have heard all the wonderful and amazing stories from all the locals about this location. This location was once very popular with all of Oroville. At that time, it was called “Table Mountain Tavern.” It was the place to go for food and entertainment. They have committed to bringing back that once famous destination for great food, service and atmosphere that left a legend in Oroville. They are also exploring the idea of opening back up as a steak house. That would bring back the popularity that location once had. Table Mountain Tavern left a legacy to be reckoned with. Could it be starting all over again…?

Everyone in Oroville and the extended communities as well as all of Butte county need to go and experience the new Tabletop Restaurant & Catering, you will not be disappointed!
